Wedding- Part 1- People

"First Look"
We've lived together nearly as long as we've been together. We're lucky that from the start we recognized what we had. I knew when we got engaged, that there was no way I would be able to spend the night before my wedding away from him. We would both spend the whole night tossing and turning. So we decided to do a "First Look" before the wedding.

I kept my wedding dress a secret. Mailed it to a different address, and everything. I wanted something to be a surprise for my best friend.

At this point, he still hasn't really seen the dress. Only my face.

I may have cried a lot.

Wedding- Part 1- Decor/Details

My bouquet, made of white garden roses, brooches, and R2-D2.

On the left: The locket that Stefan gave me for Valentine's Day 2010.  We're both pictured as babies in the locket wearing Mickey Mouse outfits. On the Right, my engagement ring on my Blue leopard print Toms. Best wedding shoes ever.

This garland was a project I delegated to my sisters. It's so beautiful that I saved it in hopes of using it for home decor. Link to the tutorial below.

This was my "something borrowed", borrowed from my sister Jessie. It's a soldier block from a set we had when we were kids. I kept it in my pocket the whole time. (Yes, my wedding dress had pockets!)

Star Trek TNG, comic book, heart garland.

Wedding Part 1- Cupcakes & Ice Cream Bar

All photos by Emily Eternal Photography. Taken 9.15.12

We had an ice cream bar at our wedding. The sundae bowls came from Wal-Mart. I remember not being able to find them for awhile, and panicking about how I could afford them from anywhere else, but they magically reappeared instore a few months before the wedding.

Icing cupcakes is really hard with fake nails. Actually, everything is really hard with fake nails. I'm never getting fake nails again.

My husband found a tutorial (through Pinterest of course) for a Lightsaber cake cutter, and took it a step further to be the cake cutter and the knife. We also got a tiny Yoda hilt when we purchased these that we're going to turn into a baby spoon once we start a family.
Our Cake, and Cupcake stand were Lego themed. Exposed Lego brick on the side of the cake, and there were minifigures there "constructing" the cake.

Top to bottom: Hot Fudge Root Beer Float cupcakes, Butterfinger Blizzard cupcakes, and Red Velvet cupcakes with Cream Cheese icing

engagement photos

From the start, Stefan and I wanted our engagement pictures to be fun. Even more fun than romantic. I had used Pinterest to brainstorm how we could make those ideas happen, and my wonderful friend Emily, of Emily Eternal Photography, (who is now also my cousin in-law) made all of my engagement photo dreams come true, and more.

I absolutely love my engagement ring. I had told Stefan from the start that I didn't want a diamond ring, mainly because of ethical reasons, so he ended up going with Moissanite, which is lab created, because it's a substance rarely found on Earth. I get compliments on it from strangers often . It shines more brilliantly than a diamond ever could.

Moissanite Education (For those of you interested in a diamond alternative that's real.)

The clouds are perfect in this photo!

Playing around  one night, after the photo shoot, we inadvertently designed our save the dates, and they were perfect.
